Oceanside, California : Family Portraits

These two darling boys have just welcomed their dad home from deployment since we did this shoot. We took these darling pictures down on the beach under the Oceanside pier. It was a perfect location for them because they love to run! And run and run. I love photographing little boys, maybe because that is all I have, but they are just so fun every time! See the rest here.

Play with their babies, such fun. Thanks Ainsley for always being so happy. She thought I was pretty comedic when I was peeping through the bushes on that last one. Here are the rest.

Seattle, Washington : Children Photography

Oh Miss Ella, how do I love you? Let me count the ways! Ella was so darling for the photo shoot we did of her up in Seattle. She is expecting her first sibling and has a baby boy doll to prove it. She wanted a few shots with him and they are some of my favorites. He was the one who would get her to smile and laugh, and fun was had by all. See the rest here!

It was wonderful to go take these of the Carroll family down on the beach. Their little one is just the same age as my youngest and she is just such a sweetheart. Plus Valerie is from Ireland and I could just listen to her voice all day long. They are darling and it was a wonderful family portrait shoot! See the rest here!

I Heart Faces Challenge

I had a great time doing the I heart faces challenge this week. I am so grateful for them and for the opportunity to take an assignment and see what I can do with it. Plus I really do heart these three faces, so any opportunity to photograph them more is good! The first and last ones of my two oldest boys might be my favorite, just because they love to make these "ninja" faces, they thought the heart and letters gave them power. They look pretty powerful to me. :)

I Heart Faces : Outtakes

The I Heart Faces challenge this week is outtakes and we get to post five photographs. Sometimes I think "outtakes" are my favorite photographs. I know I love the pictures of my children crying, and it will be great for posterity to see that. Outtakes are where you see the real people, the laughs, the personality. Here are some of my favs from recent shoots!

Oceanside, California : Children Portraiture

Yeah it is after Christmas and I am just barely posting the pictures from the Halloween Portraits. This was so fun that I think I will have to make it a yearly tradition. There is just something special about kids in their Halloween costumes. I had such a blast with all these little ones. Plus it is nice because it is so short they dont lose their patience. Look for more Halloween fun next year and enjoy! The rest are here.

Baby Portraits : Oceanside, CA

I am back! Sorry I have been on such a long break from the blog. Just doing work too much to post I guess. And taking care of my three crazies! This is my youngest one, his 7 month photo shoot, we went down to the beach just so we could say we have done it. :) I really love photographing on the beach here in California, I dont know if I will ever get tired of it! See the rest here.

Las Vegas, Nevada : Children Photography

Sarah is always a delight! I loved shooting these photographs of her at a park in North Las Vegas. She is such a girly girl, had her toe nails newly painted, and smiled the best when I asked her about princesses. Nothing has made me want a daughter quite as much as when I asked her to twirl. I wanted to stop shooting and twirl right there with her. It was one of those sessions that just makes me love taking portraits of children. Oh, and her adoration for her older brother shown in the first pic, love it! See the rest here.

Oceanside, CA : Family Portraits

What fun was having the entire Jarman clan on the beach in Oceanside? Lots of fun! There was so much personality and it was great to be able to capture a family reunion. We shot these near the pier and just had a great time all together. My favorite part, letting all the kids do a silly face! They wont always want to do that, capture the moments not just the cheese. Thanks Kaleen! See the rest here.

Ainsley

We took these cutie pics of Ainsley down at Town Square. Probably most people wouldnt think I should put that last one it, "bring your kids to me and I can make them cry!" But I wanted to include it because I kind of like it. :) I mean we all know kids cry, and lots of kids cry on picture day, they have sixth sense. This picture is to help calm the mom's out there, see everyone's kid cries, but if everyone stays calm you can still get lots of great pictures, and then you will have the crying one for posterity. Hehe, see the rest here.

I love the young women in our church! Here are some cute kids I shot before I headed out camping. Garrett is three, and his sister Morgan is three months. See the rest here.

Vivid and a tutu

Okay I know I am probably partial, but does it get cuter then this? Ella is just darling in these in my opinion. I love Ella's serious face, and with the tutu, bright colors and the Victorian bench, I dont think they could be cooler. :) The rest are here, and you should look at them because some of the ones dancing and laughing are just classic.

Merback Family

Rosie the motherly head of this clan, taught me and my siblings how to swim, and is now teaching my children to swim. She is wonderful and it was great to be with her family. They have four adorable grandkids with one on the way. She wanted to shoot some pictures by the waterslide because swimming is a huge part of their family. It was fun to just shoot around her house, and a little weird for me to see her not in a swimming suit with her hair done. :) The rest are here.

A new member of the family...

I recently got a new lens, it is a fixed 50mm 1.4 and I love it! I havent really shot with fixed lenses since I stopped shooting medium format film, and I was recommended to this lens by a friend. So glad I took the recommendation. It is all I took with me on our Fourth of July family reunion this year, and I shot with it the entire time, wide open. It was a fabulous experience! Here are a couple of my most favorites. I will probably post more from the trip tomorrow too. Love it!

I am sorry it takes me so long to post. It just seems that between my photography, processing, albums and most importantly being a mom, I never have time to keep my blog updated. Mommy and Me!

This Saturday I am hosting a Mommy and Me event at my studio (house) in honor of Mother's Day. Between 10 am and 2 pm anyone can come and get a quick portrait done with their mother. Each portrait will only have two people in it, but if you have lots of kids (or lots of mom's :), you can have one with each. It is an open house event so grab your children, grab your mom, have your mom grab your grandma and swing by on Saturday between 10 and 2. There will be no sitting fees for this event, all the pictures will be posted online and then you can order what you like. Come one come all for some fun with mothers! Here are a few I have done already so you can get an idea of what the posing/cropping will be. Tell your friends and neighbors! See you Saturday!

The last three weeks...

I am just going to do a catch up post to cover everything that I have been doing in the last three weeks. Pre - Everyday in May was great because I was so busy shooting I didnt have a lot of time for interneting, that is the way I like it! And as you can probably tell now that it is Everyday in May I have had trouble keeping up as well. I am hoping to get caught up this week though. I know you all wait with baited breath to see what I shoot each week (sarcasm) so hopefully you havent felt too left out. This is a monster of a post so kudos to you if you make it all the way through, you must really love me.

Well starting on April 19th I got to do some fabulous family portraits/engagement pictures. My fabulous friend Abby (who was also my church youth leader when I was growing up) lost her husband Barry to cancer about two years ago. She has five wonderful children and she is very dear to my heart! I was so excited to hear that she has found love again with the amazing Mike Armstrong! Mike also has five children, so I got to spend some time with them and their soon to be ten children! Because Mike and Abby are about the same age all their children are also about the same age, it is kindhttp://www.blogger.com/img/gl.link.gifa like having five sets of twins! Here are a few of my favorites and are the rest. I loved being with you guys and CONGRATULATIONS!

Literally right after I shot their pictures my family and I headed down to California. My husband's brother lives down there so we visited them and checked out where we might be moving to come summer 2009 (San Diego). While I was there I took some fun pictures of my little nephews Ethan and Luke blowing bubbles. They are gorgeous children so I had a great time photographing them and also doing a self portrait. I am a cheese. :)

At the end of the week, I did family pictures for my sister-in-laws family. They all live there in Southern California and since we are especially close with Steve and Camilla (my husband's brother and wife) we have also become close with Camilla's entire family. First I shot a whole series of family pictures for Camilla's sister. I love you Johnsons! They have two adorable little girls. Amerie is the baby and was just happy as can be the entire time. Ellie, their oldest is an adorable spitfire, and was actually feeling a little sick that day, but was still gorgeous. She is totally into the growling phase of smiling. I love kids! Click here for the rest.

Next we did the entire family down on the beach which was great fun and convinced me (again) that I should live in Southern California. It is so gorgeous and being a photographer I just love shooting down there. Dont worry I still love Vegas too! Here are a few of my favorites from the Powers shoot. Here are the rest!

And I just had to include this picture of my darling niece Ella. I shot this a couple weeks ago, and I just love her eyes. They just make me want to sing Brown Eyed Girl. Of course I am not at all partial having brown eyes myself.

If you made it to the end of this post congratulations! You are the coolest. Maybe if you leave a comment AND email me you will get a special surprise in your email box. You have to do both. I would love to get more comments on this blog so if you ever have anything to say just say it. I love feedback!

I had an awesome time doing some ten month old portraits of baby Ainsley yesterday. She is just a darling little one and I am not partial at all. She was a little grumpy because her nap time wasnt right in sync, but she is such a happy baby it wasn't a big problem and we still got some great smiles out of her. Thanks Ainsley for being such a sweetheart! Here is the whole shoot.
