I Heart Faces

The challenge this week is going back to the basics, just that we heart faces! I shot this last week at my local farmer's market. I loved this face and I honestly love nothing more then shooting close up portraits of peoples faces. Makes me pure happy. Happy Birthday iheartfaces!

I Heart Faces Challenge

I had a great time doing the I heart faces challenge this week. I am so grateful for them and for the opportunity to take an assignment and see what I can do with it. Plus I really do heart these three faces, so any opportunity to photograph them more is good! The first and last ones of my two oldest boys might be my favorite, just because they love to make these "ninja" faces, they thought the heart and letters gave them power. They look pretty powerful to me. :)

Oceanside, California : Children Portraiture

Yeah it is after Christmas and I am just barely posting the pictures from the Halloween Portraits. This was so fun that I think I will have to make it a yearly tradition. There is just something special about kids in their Halloween costumes. I had such a blast with all these little ones. Plus it is nice because it is so short they dont lose their patience. Look for more Halloween fun next year and enjoy! The rest are here.

Great Grandpa and Baby Portraits: Las Vegas, Nevada

I shot this originally for a little photo-blog group I follow, for an old/new assignment. Granpda Carl turns 80 this year, I think he is beautiful. I love age and black and white portraits. Baby Evan is three months old. They look perfect together!

Shannon and Emily

I did these portraits of these two beautiful young ladies down on the train tracks on the north end of town. My favorite part was when the cops drove up and Emily (the brunette) screamed "Oh no, I cant get into BYU if I have been arrested!" Luckily for her and all of us the cops had got a call that there were teenagers vandalizing or something down by the trains, but when they saw that I was an adult, and we were taking pictures they had no problem with us, and let us go on our merry way. I thought it was fascinating to shoot these two girls because they have such a different look. I love Shannon in color, and Emily is so striking in black and white. The rest are here.

A new member of the family...

I recently got a new lens, it is a fixed 50mm 1.4 and I love it! I havent really shot with fixed lenses since I stopped shooting medium format film, and I was recommended to this lens by a friend. So glad I took the recommendation. It is all I took with me on our Fourth of July family reunion this year, and I shot with it the entire time, wide open. It was a fabulous experience! Here are a couple of my most favorites. I will probably post more from the trip tomorrow too. Love it!

The Fab Five!

This is a darling group of girls, I shot almost all of their senior pictures, and then they decided they wanted to do a group session before they all split up for college. It was lots of fun, and I loved hanging out with them. We shot these at the Red Rock Hotel and Casino. Excellent place to take pictures, it was fab just like these girls! Here are the rest.

Here is one of my favorite shots of Cory. He is getting ready to go on a two year mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. For those of you who haven't heard, I am now offering free sitting for Elders and Sisters getting ready to go on their missions. So give me call, I would love to help you out!

Caitlin Senior Pictures

Here is my last senior portrait session of the season. (I think:) Caitlin attends my church and is just darling. She was one of those who couldnt handle a serious face, it just made her giggle. Although we did get a couple serious ones, but I prefer her gorgeous smile! I love Caitlin and she was great to work with. We shot these at Town Square Mall and almost won $25,000 at CPK. So close. The rest are here.

Leah's Senior Pictures

Here is darling Leah Bertoldo. Her family are loyal clients, I have shot their family pictures several times before, so as always it was a delight to be with Heather and Leah again. We shot these at Town Square Mall and had a great time. Leah has the most beautiful hair, I felt like I was shooting a Pantene commercial. :) Enjoy, the rest are here.

Alex was a delight to work with. I have been swamped with senior pictures and every time I go out with these seniors I just think they are such amazing beautiful wonderful people. It gives me confidence for the future. Alex was no different. We went to Town Square, she is gorgeous and has gorgeous eyes, it was fabulous. My three favorites and the rest.

May 1st - Jana

This is actually my creation for Every Day in May for yesterday, but yeah I didnt get it posted last night. I obviously work in a creative field, so some days my artistic expression will be what I did for work that day. May Day was one of those occasions. I got to shoot beautiful Jana's senior pictures yesterday at Town Square Mall. Have I mentioned it is my new favorite place to shoot? I always have a blast there. If you always read this blog, you might get tired of hearing that though. I have not yet processed all her pictures, but here is a sneak peak at what is to come.

Cami

Here is best friend number two. Cami Wilcox is also gorgeous and fun and fabulous, just like her friend Kristine whose post is below. I have shot portraits of Cami's family before, so it was great to work with her again. She is just a happy girl, in her "serious" shots she is still basically smiling. These were shot at the JW Marriott which has been one of my favorites for a long time. Cami also wanted to get her feet a little wet so we had a lot of fun with the river. She is great and I loved photographing her! She too has amazing eyes that really stand out when she wears the green. Excellent! Here are the rest!

Kristine

Yesterday was a senior picture day. I did two senior picture sessions back to back and both the girls were gorgeous it was great! They are actually also best friends. Kristine chose to have hers shot at the Town Square Mall, which I have to say is quickly becoming my favorite place to be. Not only do I love to shop there. (They have a H&M). But I love to photograph there, it just has so much different stuff. Everytime I go I find a new "favorite" place. Kristine had a knack for the model look and I think is so striking with her dark hair, fair skin and gorgeous green eyes. I loved it! Here are my favorites and here are the rest!

Greg's Senior Pictures

I shot some pictures of Greg Bayles last week for his senior portraits. He is valedictorian of his class and it was great to work with him. He liked having his pictures done about as much as any teenage boy, but was easy going and did what I asked of him. We ended up with some great shots. I think he has an excellent serious face, most people look good smiling (which he does too) but he also can look nice and serious without looking like he hates you. :) Enjoy!

Cabo San Lucas

My husband and I went on an amazingly relaxing cruise for our five year anniversary. My profession being what it is, I always try to really go on vacation, but never seem to manage it. I always take my good camera, because I figure, I will be really upset if I want to take a picture and can't. But then instead of fully relaxing, I always end up exploring where ever we are photographically. Sometimes it feels like a curse, but most the time I love it. I took this picture at "lover's beach" in Cabo San Lucas, and just loved the contrast of the yellow and blue. See more of these pics here.

I also started (during one of the "at sea" days) taking portraits of my fellow cruisers. It turned out to be a pretty interesting collection of portraits. I also wrote down each of the people's # of cruises they had been on, and plan to submit it as a photo story about the kind of people who go on cruises. The boat was full of fascinating people. Here are a couple of my favorites, check out the full collection here.
